Sleep issues, random dGPU wake-ups, the absolute horror that is armory crate (seriously how is a simple program to manage your machine several GB in size??? Thank god for G-Helper), the fact that USB 4 is only available on an unstable BETA BIOS but the regular BIOS is also EOL...

ACPI-induced firmware stutters almost seem par for the course, heh. Shame because the hardware is really impressive

@volpeon Wouldn't have expected that any skilled developer works at ASUS judging by the quality of the ASUS notebooks I've encountered so far alone.

Also ASUS devices having a firmware bug isn't too surprising or new. They also were one of the vendors that cut corners in the UEFI implementation and were responsible for a lot of frustrations and crashes while updating/upgrading e.g windows 7 to 8 so far too...

@volpeon Holy fucking shit. Thank you for sharing this. My partner has been running into lags and shutdowns with those exact symptoms with a 2021 laptop that doesn't even have MUX mode, and I've never been able to figure out why.

@Arios @volpeon We need laptops that are like desktops where you can just take everything out and replace the motherboard. Still cramped as hell in there, obviously, it wouldn't be EASY to unscrew and pry up every single component of the machine, but it'd be really nice if it was POSSIBLE and the motherboards and stuff came in standard sizes.

(Laptops can be a little thicker to accommodate socketed CPU and RAM! We wouldn't die.)

@Arios @volpeon ASUS firmware is also causing bugs on ROG desktop motherboards too.

There's a longstanding bug with the X670E-E GAMING WIFI motherboard where Intel's wifi and ethernet drivers on Linux would panic, and it seems related to power management. Intel's like "ASUS needs to fix it", ASUS is like "we don't wanna fix it because boo linux".
