I'm testing a different Minecraft map generator called "JJThunder To The Max" which makes the terrain more realistic. And realistic means vast. Most of the time I spawn way above the clouds.

So I've been trying to generate a map that I like for the last few days now and I just couldn't. The landscape is absolutely stunning, but some things killed it for me:

                            - The splotch-like transition between biomes. I don't like it.
                            - Biomes next to each other that make no sense. I'm in the badlands and more often than not I would get a swamp or a jungle right next to it?
                            - I wanted to build by a river. But either a swamp made the landscape too annoying to deal with, or it turned out that the land on one side of the river was actually very narrow and there was the sea next to it.
                            - The ground is never flat. I understand that in reality it isn't either, but the frequency is too high.

I'm now trying another mod called Lithosphere.

I tried Lithosphere, and then I learned about a generator built on top of it by the same developer named "Still Life". I prefer both of them over JJThunder.

JJThunder is impressive due to the sheer size of everything, but that's really it. It's all a wavy landscape with a shitload of generic biome elements spammed over a big area. It's boring.

Lithosphere and Still Life aren't nearly as big, but they still are way bigger than stock Minecraft. What they bring to the table which JJThunder doesn't is variation with new biomes and intermediate biomes to transition between them. It never gets boring and it looks amazing, too! I don't think I can ever go back to playing without these.
