Deutsche Bahn introduced a feature with the ICE 3neo that they just shamelessly copied over from Sanifair, Rail&Fresh and other public toilet operators:

to flush the toilet, you need to hold your bank card or whatever else with money on it. It'll then charge you 50 cents, which is comparatively cheap compared to others, and you'll then be able to flush the toilet.
