Always had fun with my scooter back in the day.@Erpel i've been wondering if i should buy me a petrol moped, considering the one thing that annoys me about the electric one is the limited range and slow as fuck charger.
Then again, the electric one has next to zero maintenance cost. Maybe i should just buy a second battery. -

Especially that I don't have a locked space where I can put it at some sort of power supply, so anything with an inbuilt battery is out of the question.
Something like https://www.e-schwalbe.com would be nice. (They have two batteries in there who you can apparently just swap, doubling the ~50km range of one battery)
But: This thing alone costs new more than my last porper Motorbike (Kawasaki Vulcan S, I paid 7.500€ for that in 2016)
And if you can't drive at least 100kph on country roads, some car drivers take this as invitation to basically try to kill you.
So a nice 125ccm equivalent motorbike would be nice with an interchangeable battery. (If I ever have the finances again, that would be my number one go to for my next motorbike) -

Silence S01
https://www.silence.eco/de/silence-products/s01/#model-2
with a battery you can take out and get it anywhere to load. -

(If I ever have the finances again, that would be my number one go to for my next motorbike)@Erpel the cost of those batteries is ridiculous. That's the main problem. It's also a bit of a problem that most electric mopeds use slow chargers mainly so that you can plug them in a regular 230V outlet, without the risk of overloading the electrical group. Otherwise they would need a special outlet much like an electric car would.
Frankly i'm just hoping hydrogen fuel cells become a thing quickly. -

Nope... won't happen. There would be a whole new type of infrastructure needed. And not sure anyone wants to invest huge sums of money into something like this.
Not saying that it will die out. It will have its potential for long distance driving (trucks, busses, etc) but not for the everyday use of the most people. -

@fristi@56k.dile-up.nl Tbf a lot of disntances are very short.
A study in 2021 (In Germany) found out:On average, a car in Germany is only driven for 43 minutes per day. On average, 2 journeys are made, each of which is 15 kilometres long.
German website ofc: https://umwelt-fragen.de/durchschnittliche-autostrecke-in-deutschland/
