Got to set up a new PC for a family member whose old one didn't support Windows 11. In the time I spent trying to get Samba to work for file transfer (which inexplicably does not behave at all like you would expect anymore) I could've installed Linux 5 times over

actually yeah I should look at doing this myself for my parents. Let them borrow my old tower for a bit…

@volpeon how to install windows
-Use first tool to Make bootable drive
- that bootable drive fails
-use second tool to make another bootable drive
-wait 10 years
-Go through and decline Microsofts data stealing
-Get data stolen anyways
-Load into windows, computer slows down by default because of windows bloatware
-Try to get rid of said bloatware
-Not allowed because Microsoft says no
-Install Linux -

@volpeon TBF: Samba configuration on Linux is also weird.

@volpeon the ONLY reason I am not using Linux right now is some of the games I play simply do not work on Linux or requires lots of hanky worky arounds to run it. Also nearly all of my 100% legally acquired
games tend to either not work on Linux or run wonky
@volpeon I am however not running base windows, I used ReviOS to gut all of Microsofts bloat and spyware, granted doing so did break a few things, namely the Microsoft store. But I'll take it if it means telling Microsoft to suck eggs they aren't getting my data that easy.

@wakame Yeah, but on Linux I just do it via SSH
