Adding the angle to it, that Nimona opened up: what if… you're not a human after all, but your combined being is all the forms you can take - or at least the form, you currently inhabit? (kinda like genderfluidity… as if that was a reference or something )

@xoagray I mean, why the heck would you ever change back? *OvO* I would be bird most all the time, but some other cute mammals every now and then.

          Human? Heckno.

@lettosprey @volpeon I get the sentiment here, But there are some reasons that make sense. Functioning hands are pretty neat sometimes. And the ability to speak. Even assuming you could make the sounds of speech in every form, imagine having to learn how to use a totally different face to do that every time you change into a different animal.
Different teeth, jaw shapes, tongues, vocal capacities, it could actually be quite a challenge without the magical “it just works" we assume most of the time.
For example, you mentioned being a bird. Half the stuff you have right now to talk doesn't exist on birds. No lips, and most of the facial muscles we have aren't there. Many of them can mimic human speech, but it's done in a totally different way down in their throats. That would have to take some getting used to.

@xoagray Must assume that in a magical world where shapshifting is possible, these things are solvable.

Not gonna bother too much with applying reality to a non-realistic scenario *OvO*

@lettosprey @volpeon In either setting they're solvable. But yeah, in a universe with magic it's easy to just go "because magic". I like the hard way sometimes though, it makes things more interesting. 🙂

@xoagray @lettosprey I like to keep things realistic as well even when you need some degree of magic to make the scenario work in the first place (let's be real, "scientific" shapeshifting that lets you be an entirely different creature is just magic in a lab coat). It's obviously not for everyone, but personally I like to think of all the challenges that arise and how they could be solved when "it's magic lmao" isn't an option.
