God dammit Signal if you are implementing to carry over the last 45 days of messages to Signal Desktop and it fails then at least give me a proper error message, other than just "oops it failed"

@Reiddragon seriously, i have every feature i need on XMPP, and it only costs me half an arm and half a leg on the hosting (although i host a bunch of other services as well)

@squish @MagicLike@gettie@fedi.catto.garden @squish@outerheaven.club @MagicLike@soc.sekundenklebertransportverbot.de tbh if you only host for yourself and don't need anything else, you can prob throw an xmppd on a raspberry pi or some old laptop lying around and be fine with it

@Reiddragon @gettie @squish sure, but you two are missing one important thing here: the average user won't set up a XMPP server or similar, but just want something "that works" and that they can just download

@Reiddragon @gettie @squish and whilst I am fine with hosting my own stuff, I would have to hook up everyone I want to chat with instead of them being able to just download an app
