@volpeon @Erpel If you're not doing it like that, don't even bother.

@catraxx@tech.lgbt @volpeon@icy.wyvern.rip Thermal paste is just a code word for "short cut everything! You will not regret shortcutting everything on your main computer!"

@volpeon @errant @Erpel That is correct. You can also use a small crowbar if needed, but make sure you are wearing polyester socks and work on carpet to be safe.

The weirdest improvement is that my UPS is now integrated in GNOME, showing the battery status. Why wasn't it before? On my old setup I even had NUT installed and now I haven't.

And I finally got VirtioFS to work, which means i can now share folders with my windows 11 VM without using SSHFS. The latter worked okay, but it was prone to crashing out of nowhere sometimes and that meant losing progress on the drawing i was working on.

@volpeon for curiosity, are you using QXL? I wanted a bit more of performance without having to pass through a GPU, but I guess that's not possible atm. I just wanted to run stupid Citrix on it

I had to remove my CPU cooler in order to replace the SSD and only then found out I had no thermal paste. Looks like the old one I left on is still doing its job, but I ordered new one just in case

Applied it and the CPU fan went from ramping up every 30 seconds for no discernible reason to staying silent all the time. 100% worth it :drgn_uwu:
