@eukara if that's really Valve (I mean, github doesn't verify requests and they don't have to iirc), I wonder why they are so salty after like 25 years.
@a1ba Their stance on leaked code has been clear I feel. It's always been a deal breaker even when putting things on Steam. I think they did it here because the tracks weren't hidden at all and so there wasn't much in the way that needed checking. The copyright comments alone bear witness to the claims.

@eukara yeah, it's impossible to argue with that. It's their property.
but at the same time, that's still 25 year old game. They could've opensourced it long ago, around the time they stopped encrypting DLLs and providing VAC blobs. -
@a1ba releasing it under the GPL means someone at the company has to do work (god forbid,) and they wouldn't trust a contractor with it because it is "too high profile."@Theuaredead I would like to not talk about them too much, because again few their employees follow me here and who knows what if they came vengeful after my project next? But remember when they declined CSGO mods from releasing on Steam by literally ghosting them? And what they did to few TF2 mods few years before putting TF2 source code under restrictive SDK license?
I don't really care about CS or TF, I don't play these games but for something I and community overall are too passionate about... Now that I feel less shocked by the news... only real disappointment left.
Maybe the only thing community deserve for being loyal to them is carefully crafted leaks "oopsie woopsie we mentioned HLX/Deckard/etc in some barely related project"
