Us 2003 transfems sure are a weird micro-subculture, huh?

@VanuPhantom that's how I feel but replace 2003 with 2004

@awoo hmmm... yeah but most of y'all don't have conscious memories of the pre-smartphone era, or a world before the 2008 crash. That's what feels so weird about 2003; This clear yet vague perception of there having been a different world before this one.

@VanuPhantom oh I do remember parts of the pre-smartphone era (heck, I used "dumb phones" (how they're called nowadays) until 2015 or something if that counts) and I very vaguely remember parts of the world before the 2008 crash...

@VanuPhantom @awoo does one year really make a difference
i dont remember anything special happening in 2008 either other than my 7th birthday idk
-
@VanuPhantom @ezri ...i wouldn't call it weird tbh,

@awoo @VanuPhantom I mean our dumb phones were quite a bit different though, hell, my first proper phone already had wifi access but couldn't really be called smart for various reasons (S40 moment) -

@jeder @VanuPhantom ...yours had WiFi access?? damn, I didn't have WiFi access until I got my PSP sometime in 2012 or so iirc, and a Samsung Galaxy S3 mini in 2015
(fyi I was using phones such as the Nokia 6300 and some weird Samsung flip phone with lots of 2000's vodafone branding in its software)

@jeder @awoo @VanuPhantom my first phone had a qwerty hardware keyboard. god i miss that thing
@ezri @jeder @VanuPhantom i missed out on QWERTZ hardware keyboards unfortunately

@ezri @jeder @VanuPhantom but: I still love the idea of hardware keyboards over software keyboards tbh, and I wish that there still were modern well-supported phones with those

@awoo @jeder @VanuPhantom i was so good at touch typing w them. now i have to look at the screen all the time its annoying
@ezri @jeder @VanuPhantom yeah I get that
though I was surprisingly good at using (and touch-typing on) T9 keyboards and loved that a lot already -- I assume I would've loved the hell out of a proper phone keyboard :twitter_pleading_face:
