    > the protests against ICE are peaceful

WHO THE FUCK CARES anymore. you're rising up against an incredibly violent force, violence is justified. do you think in WW2 the allies just peacefully walked into germany while holding signs protesting the holocaust and then hitler realized his mistake and resigned or something ?

@kitten "but peaceful protest" is such American bullshit
Like it's not even a western thing because when the French get pissed they get really pissed
If you give the powerful nothing to fear, nothing will ever change

@usernameswift germans also have massive sticks up their ass regarding this potentially even moreso than americans. they even get mad at people blocking traffic by sitting on the street or whatever and call them terrorists its genuinely insane

if theres something that germans hate more than anything, it's disruption, every moderate progressive or liberal here becomes full hitlerite when people do literally anything disruptive

@usernameswift i feel like a trotsky vanguard style power seize that silently and efficiently dismantles/replaces the government while having minimal impact on proceedings around it in the process is the only kind of revolution we could ever have at this point

and it hasn't always been like this, the 1918 Kiel worker's revolution was an almost flawless grassroots council communist uprising second only to the paris commune in how much libertarian socialists have wet dreams about it succeeding

but i suppose that's before the marshall plan and european community for coal and steel (later the EU) abolished coal to replace it with american oil and with that dismantled the basis of communist movements in europe

@usernameswift Lenin famously said "If Germans ever stormed a train station, they'd buy platform tickets first"

Now, platform tickets aren't a thing anymore, but these days they still literally drive back home from a protest when they can't find a place to legally park their car.
