question for free software maintainers
how do you go on holidays?? I'm at the point where I get 20-25 GitHub emails per day (issues, PRs, discussions, replies). I'm scared to think what I will come back to if I leave for a week or two
@YaLTeR it's just not worth it to do anything when you're supposed to take a rest. -

@a1ba yeah but then what, do I come back to a pile of 200 emails? i'm never digging out of that
@YaLTeR not all emails worth it anyway. They might not addressed to you or are already resolved without your attention.
Going through 200 of them should be a matter of few hours... usually? -

@a1ba yeah, thankfully some emails i can just skip bc it's some existing discussion
sure it's probably "just a few hours" but like if i'm starting to put off going through 10 emails then the number 200 will be instant death
@YaLTeR I can feel you there but it's not going to be that bad as you imagine. Don't worry and take a break if you want it.
Is that about niri and that everybody talks about it now? Give it some time and the hype will wear off. -

@YaLTeR btw dunno if you have this kind of personality but you now have a rare experience of witnessing the NUMBERS of the actual appreciation of your work.
I mean you definitely had it with modding/speedrunning HL community except it's much larger now. And it's awesome. -

@YaLTeR If you can, get a co-maintainer, or failing that, perhaps someone who can deal with the simple issues and just replying to PRs
Locking the repo as someone suggested also sounds like a good idea

@thezoq2 easier said than done i guess. Can't really think of anyone else frequenting the issue tracker
