@MiaWinter one can keep all the (user|configuration) files at its usual place so long as one sets up the users and programs the same way as before. (so, if one shoots themselves in the foot with some kernel stuff one doesn't lose all the configuration files for, say, the desktop environment or the installed extensions for it, or your browser session)

@MiaWinter other than that I also just use one partition for everything actually since I don't see any usefulness in it for myself
(carrying around a flash drive with the latest archiso is somehow more convenient for me)
