I've just left a friend group which was fairly close knit for the past 10 years. We've forged many memories together, mainly good ones, but it just had to end. There's been a rift growing between us, mainly due to some of us coming out as queer and the others being... well, bigots.

All of them grew out of it (and god knows I was bigoted myself as teen, which I'm ashamed of to this day), but there's been one guy who just continued to be a horrid, conservative piece of shit, who kept saying horrible "jokes" whenever anything queer (especially trans) came up. I gave him the biggest amount of patience I've ever gave anyone, hoping that he will improve, but he just kept getting worse.

This hurts. I've had difficulties doing any commitment to that group of people in the recent years, and I felt a giant disconnect at this point, but it still hurts. I'm leaving a giant piece of my life behind.

That being said, I don't regret it. I'm sad that it had come to this, but I don't regret doing it.

i'm not permanently dropping contacts with the friends who I genuinely liked, i'm just kind of leaving the circle and all the group chats and stuff like that, for the record

i just cant be in the same space as that particular guy, and after talking with some of them after I left in DMs I know I'm not alone in that sentiment
