one of the main reasons that makes social media such a hellscape is doomscrolling , which is caused by the infinite scrolling feature never giving u a break, never letting u be "all caught up" . the linear timeline improves on this slightly because eventually u reach the posts youve already read, but that isnt enough of a breaking point especially if u follow more people. mastodon should have a setting to limit how long (maybe in hours or posts) u want ur timeline to be before "you're all caught up" . if we want to be better than traditional social media we cant just be the open-source torment nexus, u actually have to work to get rid of the torment part
