for some reason I have the urge to try to run a fedi instance on the slowest x86_64 CPU out there.

something like, uh, idk, a Pentium 4? netburst CPUs are notorious for being very inefficient, running extremely hot and, well, being really slow lol
but yeah surprisingly the Pentium 4 was also the first Intel-based CPU series to support 64-bit x86 stuff :3 -

@xerz yes, but Intel's CPUs were known to be *really bad* (idk about AMD's CPUs at that time)
but yeah with "Intel-based" I meant "Intel-designed", I know that x86_64 was an AMD standard first (and now the two are licensing stuff from eachother lol) -

@awoo@gts.apicrim.es i'd wager the atom 230 or a related processor is the slowest x86_64 cpu, at least without going really obscure

single 1.6 GHz atom core which were really slow back then
on the plus side it only uses 4W of power :3 -

@mischievoustomato to have something that qualifies as being functional, I'd pick GoToSocial tbh

@mischievoustomato huh, well I just took a look and it actually seems quite alright - I would've just gone for GtS since I'm more familiar with it than with anything else tbh
