So apparently to stay in Austria on a student visa, once you're 24 y.o. you need twice as much money in the bank as before? For some reason? Because once people are 24 they are randomly twice as expensive to take care of? Or twice as rich?
Anyway, this is a ridiculous demand to make of a student (!) and one I'm severely underprepared for. And I'm a Russian citizen so without this I will be deported back to a hellhole where I already got arrested for being trans once.
I'll try to get a bank loan for this or something, but if anyone has money to spare to support me, I will be glad to be somewhat closer to not being under the threat of deportation.
If anyone has any knowledge of Austrian law, do you know if there's any way to stay here as a third country national without having ~15k euros in bank?
Could I apply for asylum? I don't have actual case against me in Russia as I was released and not prosecuted, there is a news article about my arrest but it doesn't mention me by name. I am paying for my university and apartment, would I be able to continue to study and live the same? Will my current savings be impacted or an obstacle? It's not like I don't have enough money to live here, Austrian government and me are just in a disagreement on what is the amount of money that's enough to live here. Do actual Austrians earn enough money to have more than 10k in the bank account on a permanent basis? What even is this rule???
Please advise if you know these things,
Thank you
