      - need a job to have a stable life, can't find a job because no credentials / is nobody / useless
      - want to set up a backup platform to develop on, it only has a mac laptop, nothing works by what seems like malicious compliance.
      - wants to set up a way to continue doing leisure activities, same as above.
      - won't have access to a normal computer for 3-ish months after moving because couldn't get a job (see 1), so remote work will be impossible (see 2)

that's just the tech side of woes.

      health, future is even worse.

@ada it might be an open-source project at the verge of ending, but you can use Retrospring as a reference.

assuming you ever want to work in the web dev field again, that is.

@ada yeah, I mean as a reference to apply somewhere.

and I can even vouch for you personally, as a contact.

@pixel@desu.social i hope you understand that i have been looking for a job for a year and a half, i used to get one maybe two interviews a month for the first half of last yaer but it has all but dried up because of what i'm assuming is just ai recruitment and ai submissions.

i'm not a good web dev so my odds are even lower, i am going to die homeless. it's not a question of if but when. right now i'm under the grace of my parents still housing and feeding me but that's not going to be around forever and my chances of finding anything are going down.

              i might just kill myself

@ada yeah, tech job market has been shit, I heard so from everywhere, and I'm sorry about that 😕

I think you are quite talented, you might not have done too much web dev, but you adapted to RS quite well back then and added crucial features too. Might have been a tad hacky too, but what about that codebase wasn't...and you shipped!

I look up to you as a developer, so you are nowhere near bad as you make yourself out to be.

If I could help you somehow I would.

@ada it's a fad, and maybe the job market will recover when companies need people to fix all the stuff those people vibe coded.

(because they are one prompt away from fucking up the entire codebase)

the people paying paychecks don't care.

@ada they're not caring right now, as it's still a "plus" in their books.

as soon as software is riddled with issues and security issues, especially with tighter regulations (around software security etc.) things are going to be fun in some markets around the world.

sure, the situation now is dire, and very badly so, and I can symphatize with your feelings here.
