      @volpeon@icy.wyvern.rip I think Ioght know from where they got the "inspiration"

      BYD presents new platform with 1,000 kW charging capacity - megawatt charging of the future

        @volpeon@icy.wyvern.rip I mean... what voltages are they putting on those connectors? 3,3V? 5V? 12V? 24V?

        That would mean a current between 41 and 304 Amps... (yes not continually but still at a peak)

        Even 41 Ampere is a fucking lot for a PCB...

          @volpeon idk... Cooling 1kw is not easy... And certain countries dont even have the required power infrastructure which can provide +1kw on a power plug...

            @Erpel @volpeon Currently a 12VHPWR connector delivers 600W on 12 cables with 12V making 8,333 A over 6 cables

              @Erpel @volpeon (At least that should be the theory, Nvidia fucked up the power delivery pretty hard on the last 2 Generations)

                @volpeon imagine if instead of focusing on performance they spent the next generation of gpus getting the power usage down.

                But performance number must go up apparently

                  @Jain @Erpel @volpeon I think Volpeon is referring to a new Connector that ASUS made that connects your gpu to a special motherboard which handles the power and gives it to the gpu:
                  https://www.tweaktown.com/news/105991/asus-rtx-5090-btf-2-5-connector-pushes-over-1000w-power-more-reliable-than-16-pin/index.html

                  it's not the nvidia connector, it's something ASUS made

                    @Jain@blob.cat @volpeon@icy.wyvern.rip @thibaultmol@en.osm.town

                    The load was increased to close to 1900W with 150A of current fed through the GC-HPWR connector, a massive 3x increase over what the 16-pin power connector is capable of.
                    So it's a 12VDC connection... still a lot of current...
