@jiub @usernameswift Oh, it is, but as long as you have the keys/dump and a same-model drive, you're good
@jiub @usernameswift You can technically use a different model drive and insert your drive key, but that sets off AP (anti-piracy) flags that can get you banned from Xbox Live. The console keeps track of the model of the drive shipped with the system, so it knows when you've replaced a Lite-On with Hitachi, or vice-versa. -

@usernameswift @jiub AFAIK you can use any of the phat 360 DVD drives with 0800 firmware to rip game discs and use as general CD/DVD drive. If you don't need to rip game discs, I'd use a modern ASUS or LG drive instead as they tend to be good dumping drives (they work great with various tools used by the Redump project, and so on)

I will unfortunately have to decline that offer because I still use mine, but there must be some out there@usernameswift Because USB Mini fucking sucks, and the port had worn to the point it wouldn't keep a reliable connection if the cable got bumped during a disc dump. Pulled pads, so I either have to do trace repair or buy a new one.
