Colleauge about those old clocks:

these things are virtually impossible to break, so I would say 230 V, 24 V clock pulse, lubricate, possibly de-resin, then it works!
The only problem was illegible printing due to lint from the textile ribbon, but after cleaning (a big mess) the digits were razor sharp again.
