@vivi@misskey.bubbletea.dev I have no clue about audio connections. I just know that Neutrik does a decent job for 230V AC power connections

@Erpel@hai.z0ne.social haha thats unsurprising, in the audio world they are the standard for connectors. everyone will tell you to make cables yourself (as opposed to buying premade ones) because you can buy way better components for the same money and people still squabble over who has the best cables, but for plugs its all neutrik all the way

@vivi@misskey.bubbletea.dev Why are audiophiles are so obsessed with like "the perfect" connection?

Like... I read a lot about gold plated, silver-plated conacts and a fuck ton of discussions.
I have normal to bad hearing. I can't tell the difference even if they tell me there is one...

@Erpel@hai.z0ne.social i am talking abt engineers, idk much abt the audiophile community. in engineering circles most people dont seem to buy into the concept of cables or connectors sounding very different, its more about reliability.

i have bought and used some sketchy cables and connectors and that shit just sucks ass to use. as soon as you are doing paid work, for clients, or live sound in front of an audience, you just dont want to have to like fidget with shit and wedge your plug just the right way for it to make contact and be scared to move your setup a milimeter and have the cable fail and the audio cut out. you should just plug it in without thinking and it should just work without fail
