I'm looking to replace one of my monitors which is showing its age. Any recommendations for one that's
- 27"
- 4K
- IPS (or better)
- Whose menu isn't an absolute fucking pain to use
- Whose main use case is vector art and programming, no gaming stuff necessary
? -

?Yes, the point about the menu is important. The old monitor has 5 buttons next to each other and I *loathe* changing any settings because I keep hitting the wrong buttons. Everything about its usability is bad. Switching inputs? Okay, but don't wait too long or the monitor goes into standby and won't respond to button presses for 3 seconds. This thing fucking sucks.

@volpeon cant provide any suggestions other than saying my like mid-spec ASUS has a nipple so id imagine the higher end models would have one too since its generally viewed positively

@volpeon fwiw joysticks hardly solve the problem in my experience, especially because they move all dedicated functions into the menu
and they make the input switch/standby issue even worse@novenary My experience is completely different from yours then. I have these two monitors right next to each other so i can tell what a tremendous improvement the joystick is.

Edit: Oh, that device has the same UX issues you described in a later post.

@volpeon I mean the ideal solution is to have both, the joystick is definitely better for navigating menus but things like the power and input switches still deserve dedicated buttons imo
the rest of the usability issues is not at all inherent to the button layout, it's just that the entire industry sucks at UX
it'd probably help if monitors had a remote like TVs, or software control from the perfectly fine computer that's normally attached to them (we even have a standard for this (DDC/CI) but implementations are consistently fucked up)

?@volpeon@icy.wyvern.rip I have an Acer VG280K and it's okaaaaaaay
Kind of struggles to acquire input on older devices though this can be a problem
My Dell 2721QS while it has a tradtional 4-underside-buttons menu navigation style is actually a lot less of a pain than the Acer (which uses the joystick thing). -
