    Making robots look like humans feels pretty unimaginative to me. And it also makes some things more complicated than they need to be, doesn't it?

    @volpeon our living spaces are made for humans, i'd imagine it would make sense for any robots (to easily navigate it) to also be like that, until we design our spaces for humans and robots

          @volpeon I remember one story where that was a ploint point, but in the scene that it was an ancient robot that was still working, and so the question is "why the fuck does this battle robot look so much like a human? with parts modeled that a battle robot wouldn't need"

          uh unfortunately still waiting on the next chapter of that so...

              @volpeon Yeah, but it makes it a lot easier to raise money from techbros.

                @volpeon@icy.wyvern.rip unimaginative? for sure
                unnecessarily complicated? absolutely, but that's just more fun

                I think humanoid robots are a cool idea in fiction for every reason other than their shape, and a fun engineering problem to solve in reality, but neither are practical, that's for sure

                  @volpeon it truly feels like they do it not because it's functional, but to sell a human slave fantasy πŸ™ƒ

                    @volpeon A monitor/display for a face is considerably more versatile than a flexible sheet of polymer.
