@BrambleBearWhuffling on Fediverse you generally can tag people like that only if they are on the same server as you.

However, if they are on different instance, it needs to be tagged with it's instance domain. For example, instead of @ a1ba you must tag me as @ a1ba@suya.place.

@a1ba oh, I didn't know that! She seems to get them anyway somehow.

@BrambleBearWhuffling if it's a bot, no wonder if they scan federated timeline for possible mentions
