@catraxx ime the only way to do FOSS development right is via a foundation, the way Godot does it, but that seems to me to rely on proper corporate sponsorship which projects like this wouldn't get.

What do you mean by support though? Is all of this a reaction to their couple of CTAs on their website? Or does adoption imply support to you from the offset? Like is my ephemeral defense of their governance structure support in your perspective? Because I'm not giving them any money, I'm just suggesting features to some of their devs

@catraxx I want to elaborate on this a little, the Asahi Linux resignation showed that FOSS development struggles with user entitlement and weird shittiness from upstream maintainers who describe themself as the "thin blue line" wrt. contributions (src: https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/20250208204416.GL1130956@mit.edu/ )

FOSS is important to me, and it's clear based on rhetoric like this that queer devs might benefit from obfuscation of their work, rather than the burn-out that might come from fully open-sourcing their projects

We need to do better across the board and there is no magic bullet for developing software right and sustainably

@catraxx and at the same time the current asahi linux situation also shows that our FOSS mode of production also isn't sustainable as is so it's not like you can plug in one for the other, both suck

@catraxx it's common in furry tech, sadly, I've seen convention tech staff being rejected because they were "currently training another volunteer"

@catraxx yeah, it's not open source; Similar to like, most convention toolings etc. Their volunteering resembles more corporate LARPing that FOSS contributions. You replicate what you know and what-not
