@catraxx @jeremystartm afaik the plan is they are monetised if the dev chooses for it to be (wherein there could be a percentage cut?), otherwise it's free or choose your price. So more like how Spigots website plugins for Minecraft are.
I think their more focused plan for an income stream to continue development is more to grow a built-in paid cosmetics library.
Generally i think cosmetics is usually the thing people are okay with being monetised in games, and also people feel mod makers deserve pay for their work ~ so that'd be why it looks this way. I also think Minecraft, Vintage Story and Hytale are all great, but differentβand for different audiences
