But he has a point tho, most average joe hate change. If microsoft and co would respond to the market demand instead of creating it they'd still be running windows xp and people would still use skype. -

And in the age of soldered SSDs, some companies don't even bother wiping the disks before giving the laptops to recyclers. They just drill a hole through the laptop where the SSD is and call it a day. -

So you'd need disk encryption, which they should be doing anyway because computers can get stolen quite easily. -

It's not possible as the way the controllers a programmed they don't check if the data is properly erased, that's done to avoid further possible quantum effects/reduce usage cycles
