@volpeon unicode reference is in black and white, yellow heart is thus a heart with dots in it. so emoji designer somehow interpreted this as hairy heart and disregarded the name. and the world is better for it

@volpeon Well, they did specify Android 4. That's a really old version from more than ten years ago (2011.)

How emoji gets interpreted can vary by manufacturer in the case of less "standard" ones and the base for it simply was different. (I have to say that in those days I don't think I ever saw anyone ever use either though.)

(I really don't think they meant for it to be interpreted... quite the way you did though.)
