@volpeon The version before that was black and white, with different heart colours using different hatching patterns taken from heraldry. Yellow was dots, kinda like screentone. Whoever did the colour version apparently interpreted it as stubble.

@volpeon Well, they did specify Android 4. That's a really old version from more than ten years ago (2011.)
How emoji gets interpreted can vary by manufacturer in the case of less "standard" ones and the base for it simply was different. (I have to say that in those days I don't think I ever saw anyone ever use either though.)
(I really don't think they meant for it to be interpreted... quite the way you did though.)
