aaaaaand the SE is dead, effectively.

the iPhone 16e is effectively just an iPhone 14 without an ultrawide lens but with a 48 MP camera sensor to open up some camera trickery for a virtual 2x lens. [edit: and without MagSafe. what the fuck is this ommission-]
while costing an eye-watering 599 dollars at its base price.
what the fuck is thisapple. no. just stop that.

at least if the 16e [what the fuck is this name] is supposed to be the new SE.

what the fuck is this@awoo What the heck, magsafe has existed for like 4 years now, how are you going to support wireless charging but not magsafe
Also qi 2 has the magnets, so this is explicitly designed to an outdated spec

apple. no. just stop that.
ah well I was actually considering getting the 3rd Gen SE just to play around with it and see how long this form factor would continue surviving (it's surprisingly comfy ngl!) but I guess I can forget that now?

@olivvybee yeah exactly
they did the SE things but implemented them poorly, which says a lot from a company that made the first Gen SE which was just an iPhone 6s stuffed into a 5s housing basically
-
@maxi what the fuck
this is supposed to be better than an iPhone 11 even but that phone even has an ultrawide lens at least@awoo my bet would have been on a iphone 11/12 chassis with updated tooling to fit an usb-c port. the se form factor would have been to small to accomodate everything, but alas, apple went with the lazy route. -

mx @awoo, query: would you agree with this one if it concluded that this Apple (iPhone 16e) is... bad?

@1 yes, I would. It's a really bad deal for what it is.

@maxi yeah, which is sad to see considering the things they did with the first gen SE.

With a 6.06-inch OLED display, the 16E is now close to the same size as Appleβs standard 6.12-inch iPhone 16
was that not half of the entire point of the SE line?? at least the s10e was smaller than the s10 (samsung make another e model you cowards)
