actually no, generalize that
it should be illegal to question somebody neurodivergent on any behaviour that is not causing harm (like, actual, real harm, not just "this is a bit weird", not "social harm") to themselves or those around them

robot: object and not a person, wants to be referred to in 3pp@sophie this one: it should not have a name, it will use a randomly assigned numeric designation
also this one: nooo its laptop can't just be assigned a random designation it needs a thoughtful name! -
Anybody got recs for entry level DJ controllers?Anybody got recs for entry level DJ controllers? Ideally that supports software that isn’t super bullshit and locked down as hell. Looking for a setup it can use for real DJing (so not shit tier dj2go type stuff) but that’s also like, somewhere under £150. Second hand is fine, mostly for learning on
Boosts ok! -

Dear Mastodon commenters:@davidgerard especially like. Folks telling you to switch to linux to get away from specifically microsoft's nonsense.
Guess which company funds linux kernel development, makes a lot of shit built on top of linux, and runs one of the biggest linux cloud providers. lol. lmao even. -
Dear Mastodon commenters:@davidgerard fucking preach. The political and social forces shaping the tech sector further ruining everybody's lives isn't solved by just asking everybody to switch to linux or stop using the proprietary tools they kinda need in order to live their lives

the theoretical/ideological part of it: oh yeah it would be really fucking cool to implement the stuff it relies on on top of a software stack it can fully understand and that is fully open and auditablethe two ways a computer should be are either an instrument where it can understand what it is doing and what is going on, or an appliance where it doesn't ever have to understand what it is doing and what is going on in order to be able to use it effectively
it sucks that basically every computer is annoyingly in between these -

the practical part of it: it wants to make music, so it runs ableton live on windows, as this is the best software for making music for it that runs on a machine it can afford and there's no point reinventing the wheel here -
public fediverse instance owners, what are you planning to do to comply with the UK's online safety act, which makes it very difficult for smaller social media websites to function? -
